These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GCSEWriting platform, website, and services (collectively, the "Services"). By using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully:

2. Use of Services

2.1 Eligibility:

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

2.2 Account Responsibility:

You agree to provide accurate registration details and keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

2.3 Permitted Use:

Our Services are for personal, non-commercial educational use only.

3. Intellectual Property

3.1 Ownership:

All content on the Services—including text, images, audio, video, designs, and software—is owned by GCSEWriting or its licensors, including trademarks and logos.

3.2 Limited License:

You receive a revocable, non-transferable license to access and use the Services solely for your personal educational use.

3.3 Restrictions:

You may not reproduce, sell, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Services without prior written consent.

4. User Content and Conduct

4.1 User Submissions and Ownership:

You retain ownership of all content you submit to GCSEWriting, including essays, drafts, or other original work. However, once feedback, corrections, or comments have been provided by GCSEWriting on your submission, the combined document (your original content plus our feedback) becomes the intellectual property of GCSEWriting. This ownership permits us to use, reproduce, and distribute the combined work solely for educational and service improvement purposes as described in these Terms.

You grant GCSEWriting a limited, non-exclusive license to use your original content prior to feedback solely to provide the Services.

4.2 Content Standards:

User Content must not be illegal, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or infringe third-party rights.

4.3 Takedown Rights:

We may remove content violating these Terms or applicable laws.

4.4 Prohibited Uses:

You may not:

  • Harass or threaten others;
  • Upload viruses or harmful code;
  • Interfere with service operation;
  • Scrape or mine content without permission;
  • Attempt unauthorized system access.

5. Payments and Subscriptions

5.1 Fees:

Some Services require payment. Prices are in GBP and include applicable taxes.

5.2 Billing:

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 48 hours before renewal.

5.3 Cancellation:

Cancel through your account settings. Access continues until term end.

5.4 Refunds:

You have a 14-day right to cancel under UK consumer law. Fees may be proportionally deducted if Services were accessed.

6. Service Availability and Modifications

6.1 No Guarantee of Access:

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

6.2 Maintenance and Changes:

Services may be modified or suspended with reasonable notice where feasible.

7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

7.1 General Disclaimer:

Services are provided "as is" without warranty. No guarantees on academic outcomes.

7.2 Limitation of Liability:

Liability is limited to fees paid in the last 12 months; no indirect/consequential damages.

7.3 Business Use:

We disclaim liability for business losses if Services are used commercially.

8. Data and Content Privacy

8.1 Data Use:

By using Services, you agree to data use per our Privacy Policy.

8.2 User Rights:

You may request access or deletion of personal data; responses occur within 30 days.

8.3 Anonymous Content Sharing:

We may share user content anonymized strictly for educational use. Personal identifiers such as full names or contact details are removed prior to sharing.

8.4 Teacher Privacy:

Educators reviewing your work do not receive your personal information, including full names, ensuring your privacy and confidentiality.

8.5 Ownership Consistency:

The combined work (original essay plus feedback) that GCSEWriting owns as per Section 4.1 may be used anonymously as described here.

9. Termination

9.1 By You:

You may terminate your account anytime.

9.2 By Us:

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of Terms or laws. Rights cease immediately upon termination.

10. Third-Party Content and Links

Services may link to third-party sites. We aren't responsible for their content or policies.

Access third-party content at your own risk.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

Terms are governed by English law. Disputes go to courts of England and Wales, except residents of Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring proceedings locally.

12. Changes to These Terms

Terms may be updated. Continued use after changes means acceptance. Significant updates will be notified where possible.
